iNDiDB FAQ/Goals

Welcome to iNDiDB!

Our collective is confusing -- and our website sucks -- but we're building it together and upgrading/tweaking/changing/tearing things apart every day as we work to make things more understandable.

The studio is members-only, but members can invite guests (and pay for a guest pass, currently 5 points per day per guest, but it will go up to 10 points in the future).
You can get points in numerous ways:
  • you can earn points free by using our forums once a week
  • you can earn points free by volunteering once a month to help tidy the place
  • you can earn points free by inviting your friends to become members
  • you also earn points by paying for membership (currently 4 points per $ paid, but it will drop to 3 points per $ paid in the future)
  • There are numerous other ways to earn points as well!
We don't "rent" the studio -- studio time is booked by members using membership points. 35 points per hour for the soundstage, 6 points per hour for either office.
Membership starts at $10 per month and you only pay for the month or months you want to commit -- but for right now, our memberships are basically half priced in any month with fewer than 200 members. After we have 200 members in a month, the correct membership price is in effect for the rest of the members THAT MONTH. You can pre-commit up to December 2023 if you're sure you'll want to be a part of it!
We are NOT a rental house. Do not become a member just to get free/cheap gear from us. That's not the purpose of the collective! We do rental our gear on sharegrid cheap if that's what you're looking for. You can rent our space on PeerSpace if you just want to rent for one day and that's it.
If you volunteer on a set of a member, you can earn free member points. This is a new feature so we are still working out the details. By bartering with other members to work free on their sets, you can get them to work for free on your set.
We are a members-only collective so we only share the address privately. Please email us for more details!
The studio raises funds from our outside patrons to pay to build set pieces (walls, props, etc), but we do not set it up for you. You are responsible to come in and put it all together before filming, and to take it down again when you're done.
